Simenon covers

This collection of illustrations for Simenon book covers began with a joint venture between the publishers Anagrama and Acantilado to give the noir author’s work a fresh graphic identity in Spain. Each book features an illustration carefully designed to reflect the plot of the corresponding novel.

After the release of the first few titles, Le Livre de Poche and Omnibus adopted this new visual approach for the reissue of the books in French, the author’s mother tongue, bringing to market a collection of around one hundred titles (and growing).

In 2025, Penguin released the Maigret Capsule Collection, a curated selection from the author’s extensive body of work, featuring these illustrated covers.

A minimalist caricature portrait of Georges Simenon was created to depict the author in a style consistent with the collection. It has since been adopted as the author’s official image.
